Compensation: The Graduate Ambassador program pays a direct stipend of $1,000 in the fall and $1,000 in the winter semesters for a total of $2,000. Stipend payments are made at the end of each semester (December and May).

Looking for a resume builder while earning extra money?

The Graduate Ambassador program provides a platform for graduate students to share their experiences and give back to the Wayne State community. Support the Graduate School at recruitment events, network with prospective students, and share your story through blog posts and videos. Serve as a social media liaison, sharing and promoting events and content with your network.

The Graduate School aims to feature at least one representative from every WSU school and college.

Eligibility:         

• Enrolled as a graduate student at Wayne State University for the fall 2025 and winter 2026 semesters.
  • You must be enrolled for the fall when you submit an ambassador application.
  • You must be an active student through May 2026; those graduating in December 2025 are not eligible.  
• Maintain a 3.0 G.P.A. in your graduate program.
• Must be able to attend a one-hour mandatory in-person orientation meeting in September.
• Must be able to attend meetings in-person or virtually regarding updates and changes to scheduled and ambassador coverage needs starting in October.
• Must maintain an active Instagram profile and be willing to share events and activities through posts or stories.
• Create at least one original piece of content sharing your experience as a graduate student per semester on a topic mutually agreed upon by the writer and Graduate School team; examples include blog posts, videos, and Instagram takeovers.
• Share at least two posts per semester on social promoting Graduate School events, campaigns, or articles.

Application Process: 

• Upload an unofficial copy of your Wayne State transcript.
• A short statement (no more than 250 words) describing why you want to be a Graduate Ambassador, your community involvement, leadership experience, and any extra-curricular duties.
• Provide the link to your Instagram account; any private accounts will be requested to be followed by the Graduate School account.

Selection Process:

The Graduate Ambassador Program Committee will interview the final candidates in August. The committee will make and announce the final decisions at the beginning of the fall 2025 semester.
